I'd say it's because what is inside directly affects how people treat other people, even if its subtle. You can pretend to be someone else all day but you can't change your true nature, and it'll leak out! (Eww, leakage)

I think the pursuit of happiness is a waste if you never achieve it. It's great to work towards it, but what can you say about your life if you were never happy? It's an interesting thought. :)

Absolutely. I love Trent Reznor's stuff. His Ghosts I-IV album is one of my favorites to listen to while painting.
