I really like Donald Duck. He's always so entirely immediate with his emotions, and so big about them, and I find that really appealing. And it's always funny when a character is undone by their own hubris and anger. Also, his jaunty sailor suit.

Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig Von Drake are also pretty great.

I think I'd sorta like to think of my room as a library. Giant bookshelves reaching up to the ceiling, with all the information that I know and opinions that I have. Gothic architecture, with ribbed groin vaults in the ceiling, and narrow pointed windows. Chairs and couches designed by Jimmie Martin. Dramatic lighting. And there are animals just, like, wandering around. And my favorite paintings and sculptures are around.

Is that ten? Let's call that ten. What a strange question.

The knee-jerk reaction is to say Athene, goddess of wisdom-among-other-things, to gain some of her divine insight and advice. But then one stops to consider what the Greek deities are like, even Athene, and then none of them really seem like the guys you wanna be asking for life advice.

But I'd definitely want to talk to Hermes. He'd have the BEST stories, and it would basically be a private show of the greatest comedy performance of all time.

Iggy & The Stooges, "My Idea of Fun". Listened to it this morning, trying to wake up. Delicious.

I just finished re-reading Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", a perpetual favorite. This is the, I dunno, fourth time I've read it? So good.

Also, my husband and I have been reading through Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events". (We're reading it aloud together. <3) We're almost finished, being on the penultimate volume, "The Penultimate Peril".

Hmm...The first painter that I remember really making a huge impact on my is Jan Van Eyck. "The Marriage of Giovanni Arnolfini and Giovannia Cenami" is still probably my top-favorite painting. (Though, ya know, like with all things that varies at any given moment according to mood.)

The first cartoonist to blow my mind was Bill Watterson, specifically while reading "The Calvin & Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book", one of the most inspiring things I've ever read.

The first song that ever blew my mind was Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". I was seven or eight, and that was the song that made me start paying attention to music as a -thing-.

I...I wish I could be a good singer. But I think my voice is kind of terrible? I have no range, but I do have enthusiasm. "Rebel Yell" is my best song; I have received both compliments and noise complaints for singing "Rebel Yell". :B

"Dis" is definitely my fastest-to-draw comic, especially lately with how much white is on the page. It takes me about an hour to pencil and one or two hours to ink.

The more panels there are, the longer a page will take. It takes about the same amount of time to do a large drawing of a character as a small drawing, so the time differences are really about how many times I'm drawing characters on a page. And it IS the characters that take time, because I have to, ya know, make sure that their proportions are okay and that their faces and gestures are just-so to communicate whatever thought or emotion I need them to express. Scenery and props are sort of a breeze, because that's not what the focus is on, and if I cheat a little on consistency, no one will notice (and probably, hopefully, not care?) A lot of backgrounds can be made with just a few lines, and the only real time-taker is if there's parts I have to fill with black ink.

So...Yeah. "Dis" takes somewhere between around two and five hours, I'd say?
