Well, yes they would release easier, but it has two drawbacks. First is it give them a "Pam-y" aftertaste. The second is that it coats the mold with tiny drops of oil rather than a smooth sheet. This will cause pock marks in the final candy. I know it looks like I was having a hard time getting it out, but it was only the first one or two. The rest came right out
