      Did you take classes or lessons to learn music or are you self taught?

      I played trumpet in Junior High and later studied guitar in college. I've benefited a lot from a musical education.

      Since by living in Minneapolis your obviously use to the cold, any chance you might be touring Canada in the near future?

      Good question. I have no idea why I've never played Canada before. I'll chat with my manager dude about it.

      I think I'm going to keep Tatooine as a gift for the internet. No plans to do a lo-fi sci-fi project anytime soon.

      I work with a lovely gentleman named Scott Cresto in LA who helps me with that stuff.

      I do indeed write my own songs. I'll probably keep doing that, at least until I can afford my own secret team of ghostwriters!

      Where do you obtain such lovely clothing?

      My wife owns a vintage clothing boutique (Blacklist Vintage in Minneapolis, MN), so I probably steal 90% of my clothing from her.

      You're an independent musician, yet managed to get your songs on major t.v. shows. I had assumed that major record labels controlled most of our exposure to music on t.v., radio, stores, etc. Are you an anomaly in this respect?

      You'd be surprised to know that lots of indie bands are able to land songs on TV shows. The number is not large, but it's way more than get played on commercial radio stations (zero).

      It is mostly major record labels, but there are a few shows on TV that seek out and even foster indie music.

      In "A Girl, a Boy, and a Graveyard" there is an obvious sense of loss but also a sad feeling of compromise. It seems this song could be considered the filpside/sequel to "Beautiful Children". Was that intentional?

      I'm not sure if was intentional, but the characters in AGABAAGY seem to be little more grown up, more willing to stick by and fight for the people they love.

      All your songs come across as very personal. Are they mostly autobiographical or are they emphatic/imaginative?

      I'd say they all start very personal, but I'll quickly abandon a truthful narrative if I think the song needs it or if it better conveys what I want to say.

      The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, have you read it and did it influence any of The Reluctant Graveyard? Great performance at the Brad Kern benefit btw!

      My research for the record did include The Graveyard Book, as well as several seasons of Six Feet Under.

      Own any pets? (this includes plants)

      I have a 5 year old gray tabby named Nakata- I'm allergic, but he's cool, so I keep him around. I've also got about 500 or so pet worms living in my compost bin!
