Turkey [think I kinda answered this awhile back]. In one of my last art history classes I had at OSU I had a professor that was one of those teachers/instructors that you never really forget about.

In what one would consider being one of the boringest classes known to man [and some forms of sea creature] Art History around the time of the Byzantine Empire kinda sold me on Turkey.

Its unfortunate the mob and crime issues going on their. Not that that's the core reason I haven't visited/moved to, but I have this 'image' of Turkey that I'm sure no place on Earth could live up to, but I'm kinda holding out hope on this one.
