The ITIL Intermediate Service Design course is based on the ITIL qualification scheme and as such based on OGC materials. Customized Service Design programs can be created but this would be a bespoke offering to you and your business. Happy to discuss further! Please contact me via email.

My 10 year old son absolutely loves his music, and is inspired by the fact that Justin taught himself to play the guitar. Very inspirational to him.

      Hi Mr/Mrs Incident Manager,

Both Incident Management and Problem management are part of the Service Operations lifecycle book. The SO Lifecycle course will teach you the theory behind the processes and how it connects with the other processes in the Operation Lifecycle Stage.

The OSA Capability Program has a slightly more pragmatic approach and links the Incident and Problem management activities with the expectations from processes in other lifecycle stages (for example, the connection between availability management and incident management). The OSA course is purely focused on the support and analysis activities, while the SO Lifecycle course focuses on the Service Operation stage of the lifecycle.

Most our Capability students tend to be pragmatic 'doers', while the lifecycle students send to be more consultants, managers and advisors (of course I am making a generic statement here... exceptions to the rule exist!!)

ITIL Expert may not be required for your current role - but I would assume that with ITIL Expert as a basis, you will have a better grasp and understanding of how the processes work together. It will give you a holistic point of view which I always like to compare to the puppeteer. You know when they stand high above their subject so they can pull the strings and know exactly what the consequences are?? That is what ITIL Expert can give you for your career.

Feel free to contact me again for further information.

      Kind Regards
      Ivanka Menken

First of all, it really depends on the amount of time you can spend on your study, your practical experience with the ITIL framework and study history. We have had one student so far who did the entire pathway in less than 3 months. He studied fulltime and passed each exam at the first sitting.

      http://store.theartofservice.com/certification-kits/itil/itil-v2-service-manager/itilr-expert-capability-pathway-bundle.html

The ITIL Exam package consists of a minimum of 5 courses + exams (when you choose the Capability option). Each course is the equivalent of 2 weeks of fulltime study (going through the textbook, reading the slides, listening to the instructor, taking your quizzes and practice tests). So in theory you would be able to do the entire program in 10 weeks.

HOWEVER - this is not recommended! You need time to really absorb the materials and go over them a number of times to really understand the implications and options that the framework lifecycle stages offer you in your current role in the business or as a consultant.

Our basic Intermediate programs come with 45 days access to the online materials, which would give you sufficient time to study and prepare for a successful exam result.

ITIL exams are organised by Exam Institutes and each institute has different rules and options.
Most of our students sit their ITIL exam with CSME or LCS and we prefer to organise the exams at a testing centre. It's just easier for all people involved.
However - sometimes there is no testing centre in the area so you'll have to sit your exam at hom or at the office.
Your supervisor plays an important role as this person is responsible for the integrity of the exam process (making sure you don't cheat!). The exam system is set up in such a way that you can't leave the exam program. When you try to leave the exam window your exam session is closed as if you've completed your exam.
The webcam option has special requirement because the supervisor on the other end of the webcam has to see exactly what you're doing, and what you're looking at. So I would say that this has to be a separate webcam that you can place anywhere in the room.
Please check with CSME or Loyalist exactly what their regulations are before booking your exam.
(and of course - when you book your exam through Art of Service - we will look after all that for you!)

Of all leading ITIL training providers globally, The Art of Service offers the most affordable ITIL training available without compromising on quality. And we can prove that because our students have the highest passrates in the world! (We check our students' pass rates on a regular basis against the global average.)

Now THAT is value in my books... :-)

Reason behind all this is that I started The Art of Service because I believe that Quality IT education should be available to all career driven IT Professionals, irrespective of your current job title, budget or geographical location.

We continue to make a strong commitment to our students and continually look for innovative ways to deliver our quality content to our students.
As a matter of fact, we just changed our delivery model for the ITIL Intermediate training and can now offer a fully accredited and complete ITIL Intermediate course from $395 USD. That is amazing value, especially when you consider that most people would pay up to $3000 for the exact same course.

Hi - yes and no. There is a refresh of the current version of ITIL happening right now.. the new books are on pre-order and will be released on the 29th of July.
This is referred to as the 2011 edition of ITIL V3 (as apposed to the 2007 edition of ITIL V3).
We have an internal R&D meeting this week to confirm the timelines for updates and where our accredited learning programs need variations first to ensure we continue to deliver our students with the best possible learning opportunity.

    14. Ivanka Menken
    15. Ivanka Menken

Sure - it is available from our online store: http://store.theartofservice.com

Alternatively, you can purchase the online learning with the certification kit so you have access to the complete learning experience and are eligible to sit the formal certification exam.
(you will need to successfully complete your Foundation level exam first).
      Regards
      Ivanka

Ralph - I am so sorry for not replying earlier!! I couldn't log into formspring for a long time.. really hope this hasn't stopped you from continuing with your education.
To answer your question (better late than never.. oops) - the exam is online so you can sit it at the exam date anywhere in the world. The next exam date is July 28th and basically every last week of the month after that.

      Hope you're well,
      Ivanka

    17. Ivanka Menken

Sorry to hear about your employment position... I can only imagine how you must feel at the moment.

As for your ITIL education - You can enrol in a Foundation examination package which will give you an elearning program, exam preparation and CSME exam voucher. Yes - it will cost money but it will be like ripping off a bandaid.. you only have to pay for it once but have the benefits for a long time! ;-) (check our store for more details http://store.theartofservice.com )

With ITIL education you have to be careful because the courses you need to complete have to be accredited by an Examination Institute. (this can be elearning as well as classroom)
The accreditation costs money so you won't find many providers who will offer the materials for free. Not saying that all free materials are 'dodgy' - but you'll need to ask the right questions!...

Good luck and please stay in touch so we can help you further with your continued IT career.
      Ivanka

    18. Ivanka Menken

Hi there - sorry for the delay in replying to your question!... The Cloud Computing Foundation exam is an online exam that can be taken at a venue of your choice under approved supervision.

(more information about the course can be found at our online store: http://store.theartofservice.com/cloud-computing/cloud-computing-certification/cloud-computing-foundation-complete-certification-kit-study-guide-book-and-online-course-second-edition.html)

We have 2 exam dates each month and the exams are coordinated and processed through GCI (who are also an Examination Institute for ITIL certification exams).

      Good luck!

    19. Ivanka Menken

I would rely more on old media. Today I was listening to the ITSMWP and Chris Dancy referred to Social Media as "New Media"... I like that definition. Because we interact with other people online doesn't make it social all of a sudden. Without this online media outlet I would be spending more time and money creating brochures, flyers, press releases and advertisements. I think...

    20. Ivanka Menken

      Hi Steve.
First of all: congratulations on passing your exam!
As for the certificate - this really depends on who you did the exam with. When you did a Prometric exam, the actual certificate can take up to 8 weeks to get to you as the information has to go from Prometric to EXIN before they can start printing your certificate.

When you did your exam with BCS/GCI you should have received an electronic certificate within 24 hours
Can you send me an email with some additional information, so I can try to find out for you where your certificate is.
