I recently did a great interview where I share a bunch of "stuff" click here to read http://www.celebrate2da.com/2010/11/superchicks-uncensored-stacy-altiery.html
As for a printer, I get asked this all the time and although I have a nice Epson, my backup printer is an old HP Deskjet 6540 and works better than my Epson! -
oooh! that's a good one... what type of classes would you be interested in?

You should!! I started my little stationery business 2.5 years ago, all while handling a full time medical sales job and having a toddler. I was laid off just 4 weeks ago (after 9 years of service) and now I couldn't be more thrilled with the fact I get to do InkSpot Workshop 100% of the time now! Not to mention my almost 5 year old son is happier too:)

I think having a nice backdrop perhaps made from some simple cloth would be great to showcase your garland and wreaths. I also love the way some paper peeps will string a line with pained clothespins to hang their stationery.
Wish I could offer more help, but I don't do craft shows.
Good luck! -
Great question, thanks for asking:)
When I first started I was in love with those 12"x12" sheets of gorgeous scrap booking paper you see everywhere. I am not a scrapbooker, but just couldn't stop buying the paper. When I discovered Etsy, I was instantly inspired to make envelopes with my collection of scrapbook paper and because the paper was double sided, the envelopes looked lined.
I then designed simple note cards that coordinated with the paper, but not to take away from the design of the paper. My first sale occured within the first few days I had listed all of my sets on my new Etsy side, in April of 2008.
Making envelopes by hand proved to be too time consuming and not the best business model for moving forward. I then started tinkering around with all sorts of designs and now you see where I am:) -
I mainly use Microsoft Publisher as I am not a trained graphic designer, instead a trained professional salesperson:)

Thank you for your kind words:) My advice is to ust go ahead and jump right in! There is no right or wrong way to start getting creative. I have watched others who have "thought too much" when it came to starting their own business and it really gets in the way of your creativity. Once you start actually selling your products, you will have all the confidence you need to succeed!
Thanks so much for your question. -
The only negative thing I have to say about my Epson 1400 is that it is extremely slow! I did not look at the 1900 but have heard great things from my online stationery friends who have it.

A chance to FREEZE time so I could spend it never having to look at the clock!

I am a huge fan of the Ad Tech permanent Bond Glue Runner and do not use anything else. You can find these at Walmart or createforless.com

I used to but found it too limiting. I now photograph in my bedroom next to the windows, during peak early afternoon sunlight.

I got my main shipping station table at Ikea

Thanks to my friend Bridget of Perideau Designs, she turned me onto the best paper cutter ever! It's by South Coast Designs and I believe Kinkos and big places like those use them too. It's self sharpening
-
I hand design, print, trace, cut and glue each and every one. Stil trying to find an easier way. If someone finds it, please let me know. I looked at Accu Cut but the size was off

Hi Stacy, I'm not sure I understand your question? Please feel free to send me an email stacy@inkspotworkshop.com and I'll be happy to help you out
-
It's not the weight in lbs of the paper that's important it's the GSM weight. I buy paper from Paper Source and Xpdx

Thank you! I'm amazed how many people have commented on my lined envelopes here on FormSpring, makes all the work worth it! I do make my own liners, designs and all. I really ♥ to make them coordinate with a design element found in the main invitation or stationery design I am working on.
