I am in the middle of getting tattoos from Craig Jackman, Shawn Barber, Mr Cartoon, Eddy Deutsche, Kim Saigh and hopefully Dan Santoro and Cris Cleen and whoever else Marisa Kakoulas is introducing me to - her new book "TATTOO WORLD" comes out on Oct 1 - and I am biding my time until I receive that in the mail - but until then, in preparation for my new work I am doing some research by re-reading "PUSHING INK-the fine art of tattooing" by Spider Webb. It's a great history of tattooing as well as many great color photos from the early 70s which actually was one of my favorite eras for tattoos. The Japanese style work from the 70s has a particular roughness and roundness that I really love, that is less polished than what is happening now. It's a fantastic read!
