To be honest, I'm a purist and love the pencil, paper, and ink method. For the first two years of LPI, that was the route I went, with Tracy taking into Photoshop to color. For this year (2012), I've passed over all the art chores to Tracy, as she's a one-stop-shop. I believe she does EVERYTHING digitally. I still use pencil and paper for everything I do, but I do like to also draw on my iPad. I use the apps "Brushes" and "Adobe Ideas" with a stylus. It's not as accurate as a Wacom or a Cintiq. But with practice, the final product can look just as good. Still, the pencil is my choice of weapon.

The best advice I can give is to, "just do it."
I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's true. Thanks to the internet and evolving technology, there has likely never been a better time to put out a graphic novel. Not only can you reach tons of potential readers via the interwebs, but you can also do it relatively cheap, thanks to digital outlets. Whether you go through a digital company like Comixology or create a PFD (or other format) file on your own, it doesn't have to cost you much of anything to get your creation out to the masses. And if you're a purist, who prefers to have something tangible to hold, you can always use affordable POD (print-on-demand) companies such as Ka-Blam, Comixpress or LuLu. I know the per unit price is more, but these days, they even offer to sell it for you, so you don't spend a dime. So yeah, my personal advice is to just do it, and have fun.

I drew the first two years of Luci Phurr's Imps. We are currently in year three. So, since January of this year (2012), Tracy has been the artist on LPI. Tracy was my colorist for the first two years on the strip. It just so happens that she's an awesome artist too. So I brought her on board to draw and color (and giving me time to focus on other things on my plate). So technically, it is her that draws Sunrise Peach Blossom Fart.
That said, I'm still the one guilty for allowing the nudity. In addition to drawing, Tracy is also a wonderful character designer. So when she presented the look of this character, I was immediately on board...even though in the back of my mind, I knew it could possibly make a few readers uneasy. I also knew that the nakedness would not be used or depicted sexually. It would be used as a natural thing, done tastefully, and with most of the parts of concern being covered up by hair, angles, etc. The decision for Sunrise Peach Blossom Fart to be naked was purely for the story. Nothing more.

I don't see why not. But if interested, may I suggest contacting us via the "Contact" section of the Luci Phurr's Imps website.

I am so cool, because the people I work with are ten times cooler than me. Along the way, I've simply picked up a few of their tips. Many thanks!

More than anything, work ahead of schedule. Don't even think of putting out the first strip until you've got plenty completed and in the can. You can have the greatest idea ever, but if you don't come out on time, your readers will go elsewhere.

October 31. Much of that has to do with the weather too, if I have to be honest.

Well I should first make it known that because I am naturally quiet and dont like the spotlight, it doesnt take much. I've been embarrassed numerous times. But the first one to come to mind was at Disney World 3 years ago. I was in a huge audience, watching a 3D interactive show of Monster's Inc. There were literally hundreds of people. Well part of the show involves audience interaction, with the spotlight choosing 3 random people to participate in the stories. Sadly, the spotlight stopped on me, making me one of those three. Needless to say, I had to act out with all eyes on me. The embarrassing part was everyone congratulating me for a job well done after the show. I guess in hindsight, that's a lot less embarrassing than having something hanging out of your nose, on a first date...and not knowing until you get home.
