I haven't left anywhere, I just am not as amused by SL as I once was and don't wish to pay for something I don't use that much any more.

Do you mean Art, or Artillery? If you're talking about Handgonnes of the medieval age, there's a great site about the subject here: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~dispater/handgonnes.htm Look for the upcoming Osprey book on that subject.

If you mean the larger Culverins, Bombards and the like, allow me to direct you here: http://xenophongroup.com/montjoie/guns_etc.htm

As well as http://www.sfusd.edu/schwww/sch618/war/cannon.html nice pictures but the text is sparse. Osprey (again) has a very good and colorful book MEDIEVAL SIEGE ARTILLERY which is worth checking out.

It's quite simple. I use a birdfeeder that has a spring catch on it which isn't triggered by a bird's weight, but a squirrel is heavy enough to lower the cover over the feeding hole. Drives the squirrels nuts. In addition, I put a metal cylinder (open on bottom) around the pole that holds up the bird feeder, which a squirrel finds almost impossible to climb up. I like both solutions because of their non-lethal quality.

Facebook, but not as the pixel dolly version of myself. I keep separate accounts for Twitter and Facebook for my Second Life role.

I don't have a favorite anything. However, if pressed, I'd say Ellen Barkin, Lori Petty, Hellen Mirren, Matilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett..

It changes with the tide. Music is a function of mood for me.. sometimes I want to hear something soothing, like Bob Marley's Don't Worry Bout a Thing, sometimes kind of funky and bluesy, like Huey "Piano" Smith's Don't You Just Know It, or something hard and jamming like NWO by Ministry, or atonal and discordant like any kind of punk rock, or something rythmic and innovative like I Zimbra by the Talking Heads. So, depends on the time of day and the mood I'm in, really. To give you an idea of my current mood, I was listening to a duo of Tom Jones and the Art of Noise singing KISS by Prince on the way home tonight. It was splendid, but I likely won't hear a repeat of it for a while.

A very good question. Given that I'm a fan of American Civil War naval history, my first choice would be the extremely colorful Red River Campaign of 1864. By any measurement, this was a Union fiasco. The Union's leader, Nathaniel Banks, was a political general with good intentions, strong pro-Union sentiments, but little strategic skill. His opponent was Dick Taylor, the Confederate general and son of a former President of the United States. The campaign was the brainchild of the General Henry "Old Brains" Halleck. His intentions were threefold: To destroy the Confederate Army commanded by Taylor, To capture Shreveport, Louisiana, Confederate headquarters for the Trans-Mississippi Department, control the Red River to the north, and occupy east Texas. Lastly, to confiscate as much as a hundred thousand bales of cotton from the plantations along the Red River. The Union offensive failed in each of these. As I am an avowed supporter of the Union, this selection may come as a suprise. Yet, the campaign itself was a doozy, involving several ironclads and gunboats on both sides, troop landings, strife amongst the Confederate generals, and a swirling melee of seven chaotic, confused and lethal battles. If the lag permitted it, I'd love to conduct a river campaign based upon Red River, bad union record and all. Shore bombardments! Marine Landings! Log booms across the Red River! Confederate Indian Cavalry units! The Red River had it all.

The ability to jump back and forth in time.. not for centuries or anything, but just for 15 seconds at a time.

My daughter was attending Catholic school and the teacher requested that the children write out what transpires during the Act of Confession. She dutifully wrote out "You go into the little room, tell God you're sorry and take the penis the Priest gives you". (note bene: the word is spelled penance).

Yes, I once tried to create a giant, almost hour long machinima that would tell the story of a war between (then existant) the Duchy of NewAltenburg and the Independent Nation of Caledon. The story was quite complex for a Second Life machinima-- involving a storyboard, multiple characters, several actions scenes, and many people in crowd scenes. It was a doozy of a plot, with a genuinely funny ending-- a take off of the old "coke drinkers singing on a hill" commercial. Alas, it was too much for me to commit to by myself. Aside from a core group of workers, enthusiasm for the project waned quickly among the the participants and gradually I dropped the idea. I learned that small projects that can be accomplished with one to three filming sessions are the way to go, but large, complicated ones inflict too much pain and suffering to be practical. Your mileage may vary, of course, but that was my experience.

Simple collaborative and blogging tool interfaces-- such as Googlewave and Google Calendars. As part of the Client. Let's face it; SL is touted to be a big social media tool but it's really standalone. The hooks to other media channels aren't right there in the client. They should be; it's not that hard to conceive of. Imagine being able to take pictures of an event and instead of downloading them to post on Flickr and Blogger.com, you just pushed a button that made it happen? Imagine if Events synched with Outlook and Google Calendars? Imagine if IM Channels could synch with Google Waves? I don't consider these things to be that hard, from a technical perspective. And they would add immeasurably to the SL experience-- from the user perspective AND from Linden Labs perspective.
