hello! i have nikon d40 which i love, but often end up taking photos with either my point and shoot as well, or even my iphone! as long as you're taking well focused photos using natural light (no flash) you should be able to use editing programs to achieve the effects you want. if you don't have photoshop, i love picnik.com for editing (it's free). i also use the 'instagram' app on my phone that works great for taking photos. best of luck!
