The Australian GreensMPs have consistently said that Australia is capable of being more than just a quarry.
Australia can and should be leading the world in the manufacturing of renewable energy technology, for example.
Here's an excerpt from a Lateline interview with Adam Bandt, MP for Melbourne last month:
ADAM BANDT: "...There is no reason why Australia could not be leading the world in the manufacturing of renewable energy technologies.
"China's second richest man is a billionaire several times over who sells solar panels to the rest of the world and he did his masters at UNSW. And then went overseas because there was no support here in Australia for that kind of industry.

Greens spokesperson Senator Rachel Siewert has said:
"Placing draconian restrictions on people does not empower them to take a greater role in their personal circumstances. It is a blanket approach which completely ignores the needs of the individual".
"Carefully targeted programs that combine wage subsidies, training and workplace mentoring can and do deliver real results.

Last year Australian Greens spokeswoman on the status of women Sarah Hanson-Young responded to South Australian liberal Senator Cory Bernardi's call for a burqa ban in Australia, by saying Liberal leader Tony Abbott and Mr Bernardi had zero credibility as advocates for women's rights.
"If people want to start banning items of apparel, perhaps we could start with budgie-smugglers?" Senator Hanson-Young told AAP.
"I personally find them quite offensive."
