Hi!
You can certainly switch for an iBA later on - although the earlier you do it during your degree, the better. To switch, you would just need to fill out a form and bring it to an Academic Advisor, who would look it over, approve the degree change, and then would let you know about what your new degree requirements are. This way, you'll be sure to stay on track for graduation.
Does that help? -
Hi! So sorry for the delay!
That's not true at all - as a matter of fact, the majority of our students are anglophones (and, what's more, some of them are anglophones who are just beginners in French). While it's true that everyone learns French while at Glendon, you don't need to worry about lacking a social life because of a language barrier. -
Hi!
When it comes to AP credits you may be granted up to 30 transfer credits for final scores of 4 or 5 on the College Entrance Examination Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams, depending on the programs to which you apply. Those credits will be used towards the completion of your BA as oppose to your BEd.
Have a good day! -
Hi!
Thank you for your question. The YELT test is only a requirement for students who have not been at an English speaking institution for the last 4 years or whose first language is not English. -
Hi there,
It might hinder your chances a little bit, but only if it makes your admissions average drop below the high 70's.
We always look at your overall average of the top six U or M courses, always including English. So - if the grades in your other five U or M courses are high enough and you can still achieve that high 70's admissions average, you should be safe and sound. You can check out details on our admissions requirements here, if you need a refresher : http://www.glendon.yorku.ca/english/futurestudents/admissions/index.html
Of course, it never hurts to aim for grades in the 80's, because once you achieve that average, you'll be considered for an automatic entrance scholarship ... so aim as high as you can with your other grades!
Hope that helps. :) -
For final acceptances, we only consider the final average of your Grade 12 marks: We always look at 4U English, and then your other top five U or M courses.
We might look at your Grade 11 marks and take them into consideration for early acceptances, but we never penalize anyone based on their Grade 11 marks. In the end, it's always your final Grade 12 grades that make your offer of admission final.
Also, just so you know - we'll assess your French abilities when you get here so that we can place you in a level that works best for you, so there's no specific French-language grade cutoff to be accepted either.
