I simply stacked a wooden crate and another fabric covered box on my existing desk. Luckily these two things together created the perfect height for my keyboard and screen.

I am currently working on re-designing ballet for Girl on Fire Movement Studio, so YES! New classes coming in July!

Though no chakra's work is ever done and all of them are constantly being engaged and worked upon, yes, I would recommend starting at one -- where most people are the most blocked. Too many people spend too little time on the first three, because they see them as "lower," when in actuality, they are the base and we are only as strong as our foundations.

If this is your calling, it is never too late, nor is it superfluous. You should most definitely follow your heart. I am 41 and think of going back to college for dance. The process is what matters in this life -- the journey and not the destination. Really, dance teaches us this, right? To be spontaneous and open to the rhythm and our breath. How very exciting for you!!! I would love to hear about where you are going, etc. :)

Mine is a strange story. When I met Marcy, I was married to my college boyfriend (a great person but just not for me -- ha!). We'd only been married a short time and I was miserable and attempting to make him miserable also. The second I met Marcy I knew what I had to do, and I am someone who, once I make up my mind, I act. So I did, and we've been together ever since -- almost 16 years. I didn't have to come out, per say. My ex did it for me. ;)

Introvert Power by Laurie Helgoe totally changed my perceptions of my tendency to "soak in everything." Before this book, I judged myself for this trait. After this book, I understood where it came from and the power it contains.

The questions on formspring are answered on formspring. Just go to my page. Which you did to ask this question...

Oh, my, WHAT KIND? :) Email me pinkyogi at gmail dot com and we can talk! First piece of "music advice:" only listen to stuff that totally energizes you. For me, that is funk and trip hop. Anything from Michale Jackson to Goldfrapp to Scissor Sisters to Stevie Wonder (the older stuff). AND there's no such thing as a "EX" dancer or an "EX" creative! Just sayin'. :)

Car free, of course, denotes not owning a car. If we are OFFERED a ride, we'll take it -- it's called SHARING, and if more people did that, the world would change. We do not depend upon cars. We, the majority of the time, ride our bikes, walk, or take the bus.

First, make sure to get the help you need. Whether that be a therapist or a trusted confidant or pharmaceutical. Do not stay isolated. Isolation grows depression bigger. One of my favorite quotes about depression is that it's an "untold story." So be brave and delve into that story; be fearless and follow the thread until it's all unwound. Further, I think depression melts in sweat -- truly. When we exercise, we are taking care of ourselves. Depression hates that. Do something that you loved as a child. Go dance or swing in the playground. Connection to other, to self, and to divine. Those are the three circles of help that we all need when we feel ourselves succumbing. This space is too small...

I am a strong believe in neuroplasticity and the idea that our brains, like any part of us, are capable of HUGE change, so though I am not currently completely recovered, I expect to be. :) I am getting SO. MUCH. BETTER since dancing, though that may seem strange to many. Weight lifting has taught me a LOT about the utter necessity of eating well and eating ENOUGH for our bodies to get stronger, etc. I can literally FEEL it in my muscles if I haven't been eating correctly. And now that I am no longer afraid of feeling what is happening in my body, I am receiving her messages loud and clear!

Teaching, as usual, is TEACHING ME. I am learning all sorts of unexpected things that are really Big Picture. Things about what I really want and HOW I really want to do this. Eventually, I'll be able to write about it, but I'm not quite ready. (Sorry for the tease-like answer.)

First, I notice they are present. Then I talk to Marcy about them and really just give in. I like the metaphor of an undertow. If you try to swim against it, you'll drown, but if you give in and relax, it will spit you out. Then, and most importantly, I force myself -- no matter what -- to do the things that make me happy. Even when it means practically crying as I begin to dance...I know that Pissed/depressed/EmoChick can't survive the inevitable sweating and laughing.

All systems have human limitations, having been constructed by humans. I work to focus on the mystical ends of any of the traditions that I work within -- this is where the true wisdom resides whether you are talking Catholicism, Hinduism, etc. And all the mystics say the same things, which is a marvelous commentary on Truth. For me, too, I would identify as a Liberation Theology/Marian Catholic, and that, though confusing to some, is very specifically about the rich tradition of justice for the poor that is so much a part of Catholic history and the fact that Mary is the last remnant of female divinity in Western religions. I was not force fed Catholicism, having been raised basically in nothing, but have spent much of my life reading deeply and delving into my own understanding of these things. I remember scouring the religion section of the library at least by the age of 12.
