Have you tried a castor oil based product for the moles? It needs to be applied exactly as the instructions dictate, but I understand that it works quite well. It doesn't actually kill them, but it makes your yard undesirable territory for them. We have several other types of baits and traps, but it is important to understand the behavior of moles prior to using them. They have highways (frequently used over and over) and side streets (rarely used more than once). If you tamp the ground down and notice that it is "repaired" the following day or so, this may be a highway. This would be a good spot to put the poison worms or a trap.
Your yard sounds like it may need our help. If you are in our service area, we could offer you a free estimate for what it would take to get you back on track. Please call our Lawn Maintenance department ( http://www.facebook.com/SuburbanLGMaint ) to chat with someone. -

We do not offer design services that involve producing drawings from photos.
We have some sample landscape bed designs on hand as well as knowledgeable people who can make sure you choose from the right plant 'palate'. -

Unfortunately, once you have a mole infestation the only way to get rid of them is with traps. We have a fantastic new trap that is easy to set and only costs around 21 dollars.

If you have an account with us, they will be distributed in the Contractor Checkout area within the Greenhouse location (135th and Wornall). If you know your account number, have it handy or they can look you up. They should be ready just prior to April, so you might call at that time to see if they are ready to pick up (942-2921).
If you do not have an account with us, call our corporate office to see if you are eligible to set one up. 816-941-4700
Thanks for your question! -

Generally we receive Pixwell Gooseberry bushes in mid-March (bare root). We will also have some in containers a bit later. Either will perform well here. You might want to call the greenhouse as the time approaches to confirm availability as we usually have limited quantities.
The Missouri Botanical Garden gives excellent information about growing them:

At this time, we do not carry the rubber driveway pavers. If, by chance, you still have the website address available, we would love to take a look. Thanks for your question!

We carry Summer Field Farms Composted Cow Manure: http://suburbanlg.com/soil.htm#Topsoil

There are many that fit those requirements, but here are a few I can think of (not in any particular order):
Otto Luyken Laurel - (Prunus laurocerasus 'Otto Luyken')
Butterfly Bushes (Buddleia) - some are more fragrant than others, but they do come in a compact form, now.
Dwarf Korean Lilac - Can be kept pruned (performed after flowering is completed) Paired with the Butterfly Bush, you would have lovely fragrance almost all season.
Tree Peonies (loveliest in bloom, but great foliage, too)
Clethra (or Summersweet) is often overlooked, but is a very nice shrub.
New Jersey Tea (Ceanothus americanus) stays a bit on the smaller side but can reach 5 feet on occasion.
There are many more and I certainly hope you will come out see us! -
Chickweed propagates primarily by seed (produces seeds in both warm and cool months). The easiest and safest way to remove them from your beds would be to pull the plants by hand and then apply Preen or other Treflan product which is a pre-emergent. We carry a few different brands/strengths. Use according to instructions and do not use it on your turf. The one you will get is specifically designed for garden beds. It will not harm your Hostas, but will stop the Chickweed seeds (and all other seeds) from germinating and growing.
Hope that helps! -
The smallest quantity we sell of the Aspen River Rock is a 50 pound bag which runs $5.99.

I don't believe we carry that one...you might double check with Libby at our Greenhouse 816-942-2921.
-
We should have some in stock at that time, I do believe I saw a few in our hoop houses which are lovely...feel free to come take a look. The variety we carry is called Bracken's Brown Beauty which seems to tolerate our varying conditions quite nicely.

Oh my goodness....it sounds as if your plants are currently in bloom (you mention it being top heavy). Orchids should not be transplanted when in bloom. At this point, you will want to disturb the plants as little as possible.
There are so many variables to this situation.
Janet (from the tropicals department in our Greenhouse) would love to talk with you. She will be able to consult with you over the phone and hopefully find a solution.
Please call her at 816-942-2921.
Let us know how it goes! -
YES! We will be carrying the Griffith Buck rose this season! Glad you like them, they are lovely... We should have the same varieties as last season, possibly a few additions. You might give us a shout in April and we will be able to confirm that.

Thanks for inquiring!

I would love to have some further information before recommending plants for your slope. If the water is "cutting away" the earth, you may want to consider having a bit of hardscaping (creek bed/drain or other) performed first. Liriope or Daylilies may be a very good choice in that they like full sun and can handle excess moisture. The size of the area and water conditions will help greatly when deciding on a plan.
We will be adding to the collection of the Lo & Behold Series of Butterfly Bushes. 'Ice Chip' (white) and 'Lilac Chip' (lavender) will be joining 'Blue Chip' and 'Lavender Haze'. These true dwarf butterfly bushes reach a maximum height of about 2-3 feet.
We also have a couple of compact butterfly bushes which are about half the size (or a little smaller) of a traditional buddleja. Two of the favorites are 'Miss Molly' and 'Miss Ruby' which are different shades of magenta...quite striking.
If you call our greenhouse in April, we may be able to confirm the availability of these varieties and other possibilities, as well. -
I am almost certain that we will carry a Purple variety of the PJM this year, but if I discover otherwise, I will repost accordingly.
Thank you for asking!!
