If you were baptized as a young child, should you get baptized again when you're older when you are actually making that commitment?

Baptism is the outward symbol of what Jesus Christ has done for us. It is our way of identifying with his death, burial and resurrection. It says to others that I now am living for Jesus Christ and not for myself. It is our act of obedience to the Lord as he told us that we are to do this. For this reason, I do not believe in infant baptism where it in no way is a choice the child is making. However, if a child has chosen to follow Christ and understands the meaning and significance of baptism then I believe that it is fine.

However, if as a child you truly did not know what you were doing and whether by peer pressure or curiosity said a prayer and were baptized without giving your life to Christ, then yes, if you have now turned your life over to Christ, it would be the next step for you. Even if people question you regarding why you are being baptized again, let it be an opportunity to share what Christ has done in your life!
