More males than females, if you count us having genders, which we do not. This is because there are more "male" body types for the soldier caste. The "female body types are more common in the fleet caste, I didn't interact much with the fleet caste.

To answer your question, however, I have "mated" with every soldier that was in the platoon or company I was assigned with. Pretty much anyone I was assigned with. In the Vinokian military, this sort of behavior is extremely common and encouraged. It forms bonds with those you are about to fight with, and increases unit cohesiveness and cooperation. We fight more as one unit than a group of different individuals.
