      What's your favourite big, bold, brilliant or downright daft Silver Age Marvel moment, and why?

      Wow, that's kind of a broad question. I grew up reading the Pocket Books reprints of the Lee/Ditko/Kirby era, so it's hard to pick just one. For some reason I remember returning again and again to Vulture dumping Spidey in the water tower in ASM #2. I don't know what it was that appealed to me about, it was combining such a mundane feature of the NYC skyline in with this fantasy of the super hero story, something I keep trying to do in my work over and over again today: The infusion of everyday objects with drama of the hyper-real.

      I guess that sounded overly academic. What I really mean is I like to write stories where GI Joe and Cobra have a shoot-out at the mall.

      yo! FVL! wsup dude?! You got anything coming up at Marvel/DC anytime soon, or just sticking to A&A and GI JOE for now?

      Nothing for the two you mentioned at present, but plenty from Valiant (Archer & Armstrong), IDW (GI Joe, Comic Book History of Comics), Dynamite (Ha ha funny zombies) and... well... it'll be announced soon. :)

      Hi Fred. In a purely "what if" question. If Valiant re-acquired the rights to publish Turok, Magnus and Solar comics, out of those three is there one you'd like to get your hands on?

      Good Evening Mr Van Lente. I was just curious what was the reasoning behind the depowering Hercules and I was also wondering why did the book Herc keep getting stuck in tie ins that really prevented the story developing in good ways. love your work man.

      As far as I was concerned, INCREDIBLE HERCULES ended with "CHAOS WAR" and I was reluctant to keep doing the character, and Marvel asked us for a series. The depowered thing seemed like an interesting concept and we took it in that direction. In my personal opinion, though I appreciate the kind words we got on HERC, it never quite clicked, for me at least. I think taking on a second series so soon after the first one ended was unwise. But as always it was great to work with terrific people like Neil Edwards, June Brigman, David Hahn and Mike Grell -- that was awesome. And that Greg Pak guy's not bad either.

      Nobody stuck us in tie-ins -- those were all our decisions. I like how both those stories turned out.

      Any plans for you to write any more books for Valiant. Seems like Eternal Warrior and Geomancer are could both be likely prospects.

      Haven't had chance to read Archer and Armstrong way but it's stashed away for me to read on my holidays. Outside of that anything else in the pipeline. Anything for DC yet? Plus what is the story behind the Point One (not a comic) characters.

      Nothing for DC yet. If you mean Dragonfire and Coldmoon, I'm not involved with them anymore so I don't know, sorry.

      Yup. It cuts between molecules. Adamantium is made out of molecules.

      Oh, just Ur, New York City, Rome, Jerusalem, Shao-Shih Mountain, the jungles of India ... and Adams County, Ohio.

      So, you know, not much.

      "Sorry, what second book?" My mistake, I assumed the second project you mentioned below was another book (I know you only said you had 2 projects and one was A&A) Just me making a fool of myself by making assumptions, sorry.

      Hmm... I think an asker said two books, not me. I am working on multiple projects at the moment but the "non-Marvel mainstream" was A&A, no worries.

      Any of 'em, though I do have a soft spot for Martian Manhunter, which is the one DC character I've actually rewritten before.

      Lol, okay, well can you say when the project is likely to hit, in terms of seasons. So if it's not DC surely you can say it's not. So I can stop getting my hopes up.

      We're currently looking at late summer -- that's all I can say now! Sorry. :)
