My mum is a racist but not that bad. My dad works for the local food bank and really hates black people. He doesn't understand why they are so helpless and poor. They don't know about my boyfriend because I am scared to tell. Thanks
That's so sad! I never understand why/how people can work with disadvantaged people and hate them at the same time.
You just have to tell your parents, hope for the best and take it from there. They're going to find out eventually, so it's better sooner than later. This is inevitable - you can't hide it forever, if you're keeping this baby then they're going to find out. You have to deal with this ASAP for your own wellbeing; pregnancy is stressful enough without worrying about how to tell your parents.
So, you tell them you have something important to tell them, that you'd like to sit down and talk about it together and you really need their support. As their daughter, you are asking for their support. And you tell them about your partner and that you're expecting a baby together - and you explain your fears and why you've kept it a secret until now. That's all you can do. The rest is up to them and you'll take it from there.
But remember, this is no longer about you and your parents, this is no longer about you needing parental approval. If they don't want to approve, then so be it. If they want to reject their grandchild because he/she has dark skin, then that is their loss and you need to protect your baby from racism and hate. This is about you and your baby now, no one else. You have a responsibility to YOUR family now. The worst case scenario is that your parents flip their shit and disown you and the baby due to their racism, and in that case you need to focus on that litte baby, love him/her, surround yourself with supportive people and consider getting professional advice from a therapist in order to help you cope with your parents' behaviour. But that's the worst case scenario, let's hope for better than that! Good luck.
