HM! I haven't really gone on an awkward date before, but I think that's because I refuse to settle for awkward silence so I'll stick anything I possibly can in there to avoid it. Really all ya gotta do is ask the other person about them. That's what the date is for! You're getting to know each other, you don't need to discuss politics or philosophy or have a debate in the middle of a restaurant. So what do you do? How did you find yourself doing that? Where did you grow up? What was it like living there? What are you listening to right now? Did you see this movie? Do you watch this show?

Hopefully you'll find some similarities between the two of you that you can expand on. WHAT!? You like Harry Potter? Like, how much? Okay what house are you? I'm in Gryiffindor too! Have you been to the wizarding world? I KNOW I totally want to go too. Once I took an hour long train ride to Long Island and I had harry potter music on my ipod but it felt nothing like the hogwarts express. -(actual discussion I've had with a guy I'm interested in)

Don't feel bad though because sometimes you just have no chemistry. It's hard to bounce back and forth when the other person isn't adding much to the conversation. But yeah I dunno ask lots of Qs about them and then talk about you and talk about them and LISTEN to them talk about them and say what you think and it'll be cool
