thanks aundre!! you're one of the best people i know and i miss you.
to answer your question:
mike and i wanted to collaborate on some kind of project, and a comic just seemed like a natural choice (with him being a very funny writer and me being an artist). also i had been trying to come up with an idea for an animated short after college, but i'm pretty indecisive and couldn't think of anything that seemed worth the time and effort. doing a comic strip gave us the chance to experiment and learn as we go, which i preferred over working toward some big final product that i may not be totally happy with in the end.
oh, and it's a lot of fun and very fulfilling knowing that we make people laugh. -
aside from the obvious criticisms that it was horribly sexist and mind-numbingly stupid, it was also really long and really boring. most of the movie was shia labeouf running around yelling or whining about his girlfriend, and who wants to see that in a movie that's supposed to be about giant fighting robots? i could go on, but basically it's everything you'd expect it to be and worse.

thanks! to answer your question: probably not. if you go to ktown in new york, there are about 50 korean BBQ places on one block. i'm not nearly asian enough to know the difference between them, and i would suspect that avery isn't either.

i definitely have to go with a top 5. in no particular order:
-office mouse (i like its simplicity and dark humor)
-yellow fever (copying mike's answer here. it's our first strip and despite the terrible art, i still love it also)
-hawkeye/modok (drawing superheroes is a lot of fun, especially when they're getting zapped in the nuts)
-creature from the black lagoon (i enjoyed working on the whole halloween series and this was probably my favorite from it)
-http://www.leadpaintcomics.com/2010/09/22/oopsie-doodles/ (the only update i've missed so far, and mike managed to save the day. if anything ever happened to me, i just want mike to make as many of these comics as he could in my absence) -
thank you! that's very nice of you to say. to answer your question, i don't leave my apartment often and eat cupcakes for breakfast regularly. those are my keys to success.

It was something I developed specifically for the comic. I never felt like I had a consistent style, so drawing Lead Paint on a regular basis has been helping me to nail one down. I think it's always going to be a work in progress though.

who knew butt jokes could be so inspirational. thanks! this made my day.

if you're looking for a good answer, you're probably better off asking mike since that pairing was his idea. but in my opinion, cookie monster is clearly the best sesame street character.
-
no, we both have significant others. colin and avery aren't dating in the comic either, in case that wasn't clear.
-
i don't know. it just never really occurred to me, but i think i'll try to on occasion. if there's anything specific you'd like to see then let me know!
-
why do you assume i like star wards? because it's so popular or do i just seem like the type? i don't think i've seen all the movies in their entirety, they kind of bore me to be honest.

the closest thing i own to a power tool is an allen wrench i got to put together my ikea bedframe.
-
i never saw it. the first movie creeped me out though.

or when you have socks and shoes on and you get an itch on the bottom of your foot. that's the worst.
-
as far back as i can remember, really. i think i knew i wanted to be an animator when i was about 8, so i guess that's when i started to take it more seriously.
and thanks! -
some of the comics are based off of real events/conversations, but i would think that if either of us actually did the things that our comic counterparts have done, we'd either be in prison or a mental institution.
-
i know very little about football, but i suppose that's a perfectly logical explanation.
-
if by dana you mean avery, i'd say almost all of them. but if you meant me, in real life, then the answer would be about the same.
-
haha don't worry about it. i guess we don't mention their names very often, so i can understand the confusion. also, coffee and/or sleep is a good solution to any problem.
-
avery and colin are the 2 main characters, loosely based on us.
