Ask me anything

Officially there are all manner of copyright rules and laws that would result in anyone being asked this kinda thing to say no. If you wrote and asked J.K.Rowling for permission to do HP fanfic she would also have to tell you no.
There ARE good reasons for this and no one would refuse you just to be mean.
However, if you just did it, didn't make a big fuss about it and most importantly didn't try to make money off it, you can usually get away with that kinda thing.
Hypothetically.
Now... what were we talking about again? I forget. -
Two reasons. Visually, it gave the art side something new and different to work with and y'know, you want to do something new.... or at least not the usual expected thing.
But the main reason was LPI Rule #1: Funny first. And the idea that Team G had decided White was boring and they wanted to zing it up, like Apple did with the iMacs, or Lucas did when he showed more light saber wielding Jedi was funnier. That Team D knew what they were doing and kinda thought the angels were trying just a little to hard to be cool was funnier still. -
That question is moot. Karma just is and will be and happen regardless of what any of us think.
Y'know.... if you believe in that stuff. :D -
I sat down and started writing as soon as the check cleared. :D
Actually, Court came to me with this general idea and I just ran with it.
Honestly, I think the comic would suck if I put in my personal beliefs, given the subject matter, because I'd always be leaning towards a message... getting preachy... be nice to people... sacrifice THESE kinds of goats at midnight and not THOSE... y'know... whichever side I came down on.
So I mock it all and the only rule I have, even when we DO have the occasional hint of a message, is that it has to be funny first. If we do offend anyone (and we actively try NOT to do that) we're gonna offend everyone equally.
But hopefully they just laugh... 'cos that's the goal. -
I am reliably informed that Alisdair (or a variant of) is actually a patron saint or angel name that is something like a the complete opposite of how he is in the comic. I just transcribe what the characters tell me they'd say, and Alisdair picked his own name, because it seemed more cultured and nice. When you go around and tell people your name is Misfortune, it just goes down-hill fast, regardless.
Of course, that he IS his true name as well, really, whatever he called himself, he'd still be on a losing hand. -
Well, Lucy Furr is apparently the name of a female wrestler, and while it seemed like a safe bet to assume no one would mistake a two dimensional web comic about actual imps with a three dimensional someone who works in the sports/entertainment industry, there was some concern about us being sued.
True story.
Beyond that, mostly it seems Court likes obvious puns. -
Never. To be honest, I'm still waiting to be challenged. :D

That implies there's something to NOT like. Seriously.... what's not to love?

Yes. My dad taught me. The swimming was easy. It was getting out of the sack that was hard.

Win x Club = Headache the morning after.
Try drinking water before bed to minimize the hangover. But there's no cure for the photos of you dancing the 'Funky Chicken' with your pants on your head.
That was what you were asking about, right? -
Well, the idea for a little girl being given some Imps with which to take over the world.... that was Court. A chunk of the rest was me. Why a girl.... you'd need to ask Court. Why those Imps? In the original short story, Luci receives a bottle marked "Hope." And wherever you find hope, Misfortune is usually around.... and wherever you find misfortune, Pain and Tears are never far behind.

In fairness, the good characters tend to look for the best in people.... and often they look for the best in the worst people. The other side are, probably, just as clueless, but they go for the lowest common denominator.... which is usually a safe play. But some of them might surprise you.... on both sides. :D

A minute before I need the bathroom.
Usually.
Hopefully. -
Synchronized Drowning.

There's actually an Imp called "Small Print." You gotta watch that one.

It depends which comic you're talking.
Not likely to be Stixite.com, as that really has no plot, so I am guessing it's not that.
CemeteryStreet.com swings between a wandering, vague, but definitely there storyline, to no storyline at all, to random ideas.... but most of all usually draws some inspiration from what's going on in the real world at the time I'm writing, so really that probably wouldn't work.
Finally we've got LuciPhurrsImps.com which has a lot more preplanning than the other two. Alas, while this one is the most obvious to throw ideas at, we work a long way ahead. How far? Well, ALL of 2012 scripts were written by (if I remember right) the start of October 2011. I have also roughly plotted ALL of 2013 AND 2014, broken-down some of the arcs for those and will be starting full scripting soon.
So in light of that, it'd probably be best for you to not send us any ideas. And I do mean for YOU. There's a chance that what happens between now and the end of 2014 might actually touch on something you were thinking, so you get to see that scenario play out without having to do the work (or deal with Courtney). But the other part, which can be really frustrating, is that Luci Phurr is owned by Penny Farthing Press and legally speaking, no publisher will look at unsolicited ideas without some kind of legal disclaimer that covers them from being sued. Now I know YOU wouldn't sue, you just wanna join the fun and be part of the comic you enjoy, but there ARE some people who are not quite so pleasant.... they'd send an unsolicited idea and then when they see a story that we had in the bag months ago that is kinda like their idea, they sue and say it was stolen. This is why publishers in general won't even look at pitches and ideas and samples without a signed release.
It sucks. But it also means that we avoid getting stuck in a mess like that and have to shut down the comic and spoil it for readers like yourself, who take the time to ask the above question.
But I can offer you one small ray of hope. If you are brimming with ideas, I'll bet you are the kinda person who could actually create your own comic. With the internet, things like WordPress and ComicPress and companies like Ka-Blam, you could tweak those ideas and make something completely original and build your own audience. If you DO, lemme know, I'll come and read it. -
For legal reasons I can't answer that without the retainer check clearing. And that cost <SHUDDER!> ....you don't wanna know. Whenever slings and arrows meet outrageous fortune, those lawyers always focus on the outrageous fortune as a billable rate.
-
Before I answer that.... are you some kinda supervillain looking to harness my creative mojo to bring the world to its knees? Because if you are, I gotta tell ya, I've sworn to use my mojo only in the aid of good.
Of course, thinking about that question, you could just as easily be Mr. Moosechek, my High School Science teacher. Are you?
Actually, now I REALLY ponder this, there is just as good a chance that the answer to those questions could both be "Yes."
I may have to take the Fifth.
