Yes. I've had my travel and lodging paid on several occasions when I've attended conventions as a guest, and when I've worked on paid projects for film or photography.

Neither, I always work with photographers or friends who practice photography as a hobby. I don't like having to bother boyfriends, and a self-timer would be a pain and probably not very good quality!

I'm pretty much done with cons for the rest of the year, but I'm planning to finally get a photoshoot of the costume done soon. :-)
