In 2002, I was working as a contract editor for the Digital Cities channel at AOL in Dulles, VA. One afternoon I received an IM from college friend whose mom grew up/ worked with Ann Ratner, founder partner of Ratner Co, parent company of Cibu. He suggested I interview for a job at his mom's company, a marketing position supporting Ann's salon chain, Bubbles. I said "I'm a writer, I don't know anything about marketing." He replied, "trust me, it doesn't matter, you're perfect for this." During the interview Ann said "I want to start a haircare line for Bubbles. If you can figure out how to do it that can be your job."

November 17, 1977 is my birthday 111777. In hindsight, I would have creating something less personal to represent the Cibu brand on Youtube. At the time (2007) there was no Cibu social media strategy, I simply created an account to watch a video link my friend e-mailed me.

Virginia is a beautiful state. We have history and beaches and mountains and vineyards and really well maintained roads (unlike horrible Maryland) plus I live in Arlington, which is about 7 minutes outside of Washington DC, so we can go to the city for a fantastic dinner and be home on the couch watching DVR by 11pm

no one needs a flat iron to go over 450 degrees, and you only need it that hot for certain services. mine is probably 350

Cibu Spring Roll! The entire line is sulfate and paraben free and infused with awapuii, kui kui nut oil and aloe for moisture and frizz control. It's our best line, if you ask me.

Yes Cibu is based out of Tysons Corner -- Cibu isn't hiring but I'm sure there are positions open in the Ratner Resource Center or in any one of our salons: Hair Cuttery, Bubbles or Salon Cielo.
