Remodeling is a complex beast and I'm not sure how anyone can be really effective without a solid background in building things. If your goal is to specialize in a single trade then the path to knowledge is the same now as it has been for centuries: Find a skilled tradesman to apprentice under.

If your goal is to become a remodeler, the path is a little more complex. You'll need a base of knowledge in all the trades, or a strong business systems background and the resources to hire skilled folks to bid and run your projects.
