Ah, it's hard to pick one, there are so many! I'll cheat and chose two. S1 Blood Brothers. Elena gives him the choice between life and death without saying "Hey dude, wake up and fight /for me/." she didn't, she let him make his own path. Also, S2, Stefan tells her he's not going to let her give up. OK THIRD also when he made her admit she didn't want to be a vampire. All three, selfless, powerful and meaningful scenes. Me loves it.

I don't really have one but if I really have to pick a scene, then it'd be in S1; Elena hugged & comforted him when he found out Katherine had never been locked in a tomb for the 150 years he's been waiting. Oh wait. The moment Damon placed himself in the queue so she wouldn't have to dance alone at the Miss Mystic Falls event was a nice one too. Those were selfless moments I truly enjoyed.
