The IT is not a user friendly building. Phones don't work, change machine is out, no help with buses after 5 or 6 P.M. No security. Why?
Thank you for contacting us and bringing your concerns to our attention. Illinois Terminal is a facility that prides itself on providing quality customer service in a clean, family-friendly environment.
The pay phones are checked regularly to make sure there are no coin jams or connection problems. But one penny can put a pay phone out of service. If you are having difficulties with a phone, please ask a customer service staff or security personnel for assistance.
The previous change machine was broken! A new one has been ordered, quarters are ready to fill it, and it will be installed the week of September 20, 2010. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and other users.
Customer service staff are available for assistance Monday - Saturday 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, and Sunday 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Security personnel monitor the building seven days a week from 5:00 am until midnight. They monitor all floors inside the building and all sides of the exterior. Oftentimes, these hours get extended due to a late Amtrak train arrival or weather emergency. Security staff are fully trained in all customer related needs. They can assist in reading a route or schedule, provide information on annual passes, and they understand regional travel services such as Danville JARC and Burlington Trailways.
As always, the most updated version of MTD's Maps & Schedules Book is available at Illinois Terminal's customer service desk. Please don't hesitate to share further questions or concerns on formspring. If you'd prefer, you may contact the Illinois Terminal Building Director, Adam Shanks at 217.278.9062 or ashanks@cumtd.com.
