Well thank goodness for the internet or I couldn't keep up with the ever changing burlesque scene there!
Of course I know the basics of Knoxvegas's burlesque history, as I was a member of White Lightnin' Burlesque. Fast forward to 5 years later and there are two great groups showing Knoxville how its done! White Lightnin Burlesque seems to perform more Rock and roll, edgy and unique performances fringing with some rockabilly and classic styles. Salome Cabaret appears to have gone the way of what I dub as "Coney Island" style burlesque, defined as more vaudeville and comedic style performances with the addition of highly skilled performers like the vocal styling of Miss Siren Santina, who by the way just won the Queen of Southern Fried Burlesque Festival in Atlanta! Sassy Frass of White Lightnin' will be making her way to Texas this April to make her debut at the Texas Burlesque Festival.
Knoxville's scene is pretty typical of every city's burlesque scene. There are many different styles of burlesque just as there are many different styles of music. Often a burlesque scene starts with a performer or a troupe and then due to logistics, or artistic differences, career goals or even a different lifestyles, multiple groups and performers begin to bloom and suddenly there is the challenge of competition. Competition can be both good and bad but it is necessary for growth. We all watch each other grow and develop as performers, and by default, we desire growth and improvement within ourselves. Without competition, many of us would not have the motivation to develop new numbers or improve at all. Change and competition is always necessary to grow, and it never comes easy. Constant self improvement is the key to success, and both White LIghtnin' and Salome are making huge leaps in developing their respective art forms spreadin gthe gospel that there are some tassle twirlers in little ol Knoxville, and educating the masses in the bible belt by instilling confidence in the lives of each woman lucky enough to catch their shows. I refuse to pick just one! Coco Lectric, Ruby Joule, and Jolie Goodnight make me kinda fangirl-ish. Angi B Lovely is another favorite and friend, as well as La Divina, Elisa, Ginger Valentine and Honey Cocoa Bordeax and Fronstine Shake, and Crystal Pistols, and newcomer, Donna Denise...........Iris L'Mour, my good friend Blaze is setting the scene on fire, and I just got to catch the girls from Bat City Bombshells, loving them! Black Orchid is another up and coming star . I've known Rosie Rawhyde since the first Texas burlesque festival and she holds a special place in a my wall of awesome as well! There is not much I don't like about the burlesque here in Texas! The list will go on and on I'

Duality! I do tend to migrate to the center stage or to the spotlight, but not at the expense of others. I love being a performer, and I love entertaining everyone who will lend an ear or an eye. I love to talk too so when I'm not dancing, I am in the center of the room, making everyone laugh. In my private life I tend to be more reserved. When I go out, I am a people watcher. I like to listen an observe everyone and I am curious to the motivations that make us all do whatever it is we do with others when we interact.

Preferably someone who's party has the majority in the Senate so we can get some productivity. Seems like Obama had good speed when he went into office, but the Senate has hindered any sort of progress in policy.

Wake up, let the dogs out to pee, feed the dogs, Fix breakfast, take medicine, let the dogs out again, quickly skim emails for priority messages, let the dogs back in, snuggle with dogs under a fleece blanket on the couch, turn on the morning news & go back to sleep for 30 minutes till meds kick in.

I have met a number of celebrities, but their rank as a celebrity is pretty objective to their fans, no? I will say Dita Von Teese was my idol and the most exciting celebrity that I have met. She was by far the nicest person, and celebrity, that I have met. Aaron Douglas was another great celebrity encounter. Incredibly friendly guy. It would be hard to have a bad time around Aaron Douglas. "Who?" you say? Chief Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica.

I wished I had taken more pictures backstage at burlesque shows and Festivals. I often get very focused before a performance and once the show is over, I regret not having the photographs of my new friends or of the event that I enjoyed.
