I've never used a streaming service that really grabbed me, and Internet connections are so iffy when you're traveling or even at home (I just had three days of no connection due to a storm) that I don't think I would feel comfortable signing up for a service that REQUIRED a connection. Individual games like Diablo 3? Maybe, but now a whole service with a slate of games.

I'm not sure what to make of it. Online infrastructure in the US is kind of a mess, especially when you consider data caps and rural areas. The price seemed very high to me, and Sony isn't in the best shape financially. It's a risky move, but I'm going to keep my eye on it.

That's a really interesting question. When I'm given the ability to create a character, I try to make someone like me: male, straight, white, and kind of small. I rarely play women or any other orientation because I'd rather have an avatar that I can relate to, and having someone who physically resembles me makes that easier.

Now, if there was a game like The Walking Dead where I control a written, specific character, I'd be fine playing as a gay or transgender character. I'm also in a weird position though, as I'd want to play something like that because I know I could learn something and it could be a good story for PAR. Unless the game had a very small budget though, I can't see anyone releasing a game with a gay or transgender main character just because it would almost certainly limit the audience. Those kinds of decisions are sadly still controlled by both demographics and the market.

A few are, but honestly if we go out during E3 is usually to an industry party, which are fun by exhausting in their own way. You're so busy seeing games and writing that it's hard to check out and just relax.

They all did! The mech games are all doing different things, and they look and play very distinct, so I'm not worried. Everyone is happy to check out everyone else. I think even people releasing mech games are happy to have more mech games.

The important thing with SmartGlass is getting developers to support it. If they come on in full force? Big things could happen.

Right now I love the school my kids are in, my family and friends are there, and my wife has her own career. We're also expecting another child by the end of the year. My roots are pretty deep, but in ten years or so who knows? Overall though, I have no complaints with Cincinnati, although I do wish I could spend more time with the Penny Arcade crew, it's a wonderful group of people.

It depends, but I usually hit DICE, GDC, E3, PAX, and usually a few others depending on what's going on. Overall I'm on the road about one week out of every month. I'm hoping for a break after E3 though, I'm a little wore out. The next big one is going to be PAX Prime.

Some Wii U stuff. The way you interact with the world in ZombiU was interesting. The way you played "tag" in the Luigi's Mansion game on the Wii U was great. The way the fireteams worked in the new Medal of Honor was really cool. I played with bluetooth dice that interacted with iPad games, and those were neat. There was new stuff out there, for sure.

We're always talking to people about PAR content, and we have some interesting things in the works. The goal, in the next few months, is to find a way to get content up daily without making an compromises on quality. So stay tuned!

Pacing myself, and knowing my schedule well in advance. I didn't try to cram my days full with all the content, and I skipped the press events. It's a matter of focusing on fewer things, and trying to do them well. For energy? Protein bars and soda.

I don't really think it has. If you follow a lot of game journalists you probably think we're catty and pretty boring, so there's that, but the actual work? I don't think that's changed.

Right now, I'm pretty much doing the maximum I can in terms of stories a week. Trying to add any more would be either unsustainable or would force me to lower the quality, and I'm not interested in burning out or beginning to crank out crap. On the other hand, if we were to add more people...

I have a few ideas for more content, but I'm in no rush. I'm very happy with where things are right now, and I want to make sure we grow slowly and in the right areas.

I'm not sure, it's always hard to second guess that sort of thing. Based on the numbers I've seen it did pretty well for a new IP. It's a shame everything about the studio was so mismanaged.

Just e-mail me: Bkuchear(at)penny-arcade(dot)com. It's E3 season though, so be aware that you're spitting into a river, but I'll look for the message. :-)

On the Vita I'm playing Mortal Kombat, and the 3DS has been mostly Mario Tennis.

I walked around and explored. I tried some local food, I met some people, and just kind of tried to enjoy the trip. Wherever I go for business I try to walk around a bit, to get the feel for the place.
