Questions Answered

First, you are a beautiful woman, but you already know that. I have three questions. Here's the first: on bmezine.com there's a picture of you wearing big hoop earrings. They look amazing on you. Do you ever wear them?

I think you're talking about the silver oval hooks made by Diablo Organics. Those were a gift from Jimmy and I've worn them a few times. I tend to stick to whatever I'm wearing in my ears and now change them out.

I currently wearing a pair of wood plugs with mercury dimes inlayed in them that were a gift that I got at APP in 2004/05 I believe. I don't remember who gave them to me but I found them a year or so ago and have been wearing them ever since.

Second question: When (at what age)did you have your ears pierced?

12. I got them pierced in exchange for quitting sucking my thumb. I quit for like a month, got them pierced and then sucked my thumb until I was 15.

Third question: What have you had pierced at any time in your life?

Let's start from the top and work our way down.

I've had a surface piercing in my forehead, two eyebrow piercings, nostril piercings, 4ga nostril punches, 3/4" stretched lobes, tragus, medusa, various labrets, side lip rings, multiple tongue piercings, nipple piercings, 3 navel piercings at one time, random surface piercings and that's it.

I've never had any genital piercings. I'm a wuss. What can I say. I've also never had a piercing fully heal, despite having them for years at a time which is why I never got anything below the belt pierced because I was afraid it would never become functional. The only fully healed piercings I have are my lobes.

Just to reassure you, if I get hate mail, I'll scratch their eyes out. I hope you have a great week and best of luck on the tour thing. I just wish cats were allowed... by salacioussue

Thank you! I'd allow cats but then you'd have to spend all of the tour in some quarantine facility and that wouldn't be all that awesome.

Do you still have hair extensions? If so, how involved is the maintenance? I'm thinking of getting some but I want to know what's involved- how much time, money, etc. Thanks! by purplestains

Yes. It all depends how you take care of them. I take really good care of my hair so I can wear them for 4-6 months.

They are expensive and it depends on the amount you need, the length and the quality of the hair that is used. I go to a great stylist in Marina del Rey. It's kind of personal though so I don't really care to discuss the financial aspect of it.

Hope that answers your questions.

Has your daughter expressed any interest in getting piercings tattoos in the future and based on that what age do you think is appropriate for piercings and tattoos. by Betabox

She begged for months to get her ears pierced. I caved and she took them out at 6 weeks to change them and they closed in a couple of minutes.

I think 18-21 is a good age. My better/favorite tattoos are all from after I was 21.

I'll leave the decision of when to get modifications up to her. I have a feeling she may not be that into it when she's older though.

WTF???!!! Why can't people just leave you alone for a while? Bills, custody and touring.... Wouldn't it be nice if you were a cat like me? by salacioussue

I don't know why but with the level of attention that BME attracts, with positive there will always be negative. Since you asked and included your name, I apologize in advance for any hate mail that comes your way.

Hey Rachel, I'm curious as to how you managed to "break your face"! It looked really painful. by Sproglet

I had a deviated septum fixed. It says it in the video I posted the other day. The black eyes were pretty wicked. It's amazing because they didn't bother to tell me I'd get such big black eyes from it but I guess if they're breaking your nose and shaving down the sides of your septum that it's going to have that effect!

The funny thing is I didn't used to snore but I've been snoring since the surgery now that the inside of my nose is so swollen.

It was incredibly painful. I honestly couldn't believe how painful it was after they told me it was going to be a minor procedure.

Why did Jen Newby Blanchard go to SpotLight Tattoo and talk shit about you all day behind your back to a shop that considers you to be part of their family, after she has spent the past few months begging you to be her friend?

I wish I knew the answer to this. I was pretty surprised when I got the phone call letting me know that someone I barely knew, who often claims that we were "good friends" was trash talking me.

She apparently took great pride in dishing out 4 year old rumors and trying to start drama with my family as well as between myself and my ex husband.

It shows that despite the emails and messages claiming that she had "changed" and was sorry for all the drama that she had started against me in 2006, that she had indeed not changed at all.

I feel badly for her. It must be hard not knowing what being a friend actually means.

What do you do to perk yourself up on a bad day? by Botexty

I'm not sure if it's one word or two but Yogurt Land did a great job today.

The other day you bought yourself lunch. How can you afford lunch with all the legal bills BME has to pay? by cere

I don't pay my legal bills! It's pretty much the trade off I have to make. I have to decide which bills I pay each month. Luckily my legal team is awesome and not only are they sooo awesome but they also let me make payments because they know that I am good for my word.

Regarding the BME World Tour - how will you be paying for yourself and everyone to fly around the world, their upkeep etc? It'll cost a lot of money - can you afford it what with all the legal bills for BME?

Does anyone ever read the other questions that I've answered?

The legal bills are almost paid off. I expect them to be fully paid off in April. Then through a combination of sponsorships, BME's income and using my own money, I'll be thrifting my way around the world with a group of talented individuals!

We'll be staying in hostels or inexpensive hotels, staying with friends and eating on the cheap. I've traveled around the world on my own on a tight budget and I know how to do it. The rest of the costs will be offset with funding from sponsorships.

What kind of CBR do you wear in your lip piercing? Is it a seamless ring or is the bead just rolled in and hiding behind your lip?

It's just a stainless steel 14 gauge ring. I had a seamless that a friend had custom made for me in for a couple of days but it was too tight and caused my lip to swell and become sore.

I think I may be removing it soon though. My lip tends to get sore and puff up randomly and I just think that it doesn't want to be there.

I noticed you have an Apple iPhone. Is there any chance of a BME or IAM app? by Iamkincaid

I have a google Droid after I got tired of At&t not having reliable service. I can't stand the droid though.

The first step once the new site is up will be making a mobile version of the site since there are so many phones out there with full browsers on them. Since there are so many different phones out there, we can't really afford to make apps for all of them but I do plan on making as many phone apps as I can. I'm hoping that it will be easy to replicate what needs to be done for each different phone platform. The first one that might actually be the easiest and broadest would be for the google series of phones since they have released a lot of them lately and from what I've heard, their app process is a lot easier than Apples.

Phone Apps are definitely on the to-do list after the mobile version of course!

Do you ever feel remorse over the fact that you traded the BME site for your daughter or that you are running a business that was clearly made successful by another person? *Truly not trying to be snarky but just interested.

Does it make you feel better about yourself to ask someone a question based on a bullshit rumor?

I didn't "trade" anything nor am I running a business that was "clearly made successful by another person". There was never an option of one or the other. If I could trade BME for my daughter, I would do so in a heart beat. I've also spent my entire 20's working behind the scenes on BME.

If you want to discount the work I've done over the past 9 years, that's fine. I'm used to it by now as are the staff and hundreds of thousands of volunteers who have made BME what it is today. Without them, there would be no BME.

Besides the restaurant-incident here the other months, have your tattoos and such ever caused you trouble with, say, when you ever tried to apply for a "normal" job where you had to deal with customers?

No, it has never affected my career. I am lucky because I know it has hurt other people's work opportunities. I firmly believe though that if you are a talented and skilled employee, that your modifications will not harm your career. If anything, you will stand out more than other employees. If you don't have the skills though, it's a big negative since you do stand out more, it's easier to be noticed when you're doing a bad job.

UGH. look at you.

I know right! Omg, look at me! Or don't because it may induce vomitting from what I've heard.
