I certainly hope so. Problem is, "Status This" as a comic strip is owned by my employer. And as such, the strips must be drawn "on-the-clock". I'm usually pretty swamped, so the comic is the first thing to get delayed. We're trying to find a way to free up time for it, but paying clients must come first.

That said, I'm still hoping to either resurrect my original strip (http://happyaccidentscomic.com) or create something completely new. Meantime, I'm still doing custom avatar commissions and teaching myself to do caricatures.

Thanks for the interest in the strip!

Bats. At our old house (not only the last house we lived in, but also 80+ years old), bats got in the house twice. Never been so freaked out in my life. They're just so damn fast and unpredictable.

So yeah, I'll never be Batman.

Not sure about 10 years, but if I could go back 20 years, I'd tell myself if I didn't go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I'd regret it the rest of my life.

Hmm. That's a loaded question, and it depends on what angle you're coming from. Meaning, why am I drawing strips? Why am I doing a strip to talk about social media? None of the above?

I've considered myself an artist all my life. My grandparents still have dozens of Bob Evans paper placemats with my early scribblings on them. I've had definite periods in my life with bursts of artistic focus, but never really "made a go" of it. My most prolific drawing phase was in high school. And in the 90's, guys like Todd McFarlane inspired me to dabble in traditional comics. I did a single issue of a black-and-white comic book that sold a couple hundred copies in my hometown of Marietta, Ohio. But then I got married and became a web developer, and all that kind of fell by the wayside.

In the last couple years, I've rediscovered art and realized this was something I was meant to do, even if as a hobby. So I started posting to Deviant Art and started a comic strip. No idea where it will lead or how long it will last. But I'm enjoying getting better at it and learning new things.

As for "why cartoons", it just seems logical. I'm more drawn to comic "strips" than comic "books", although I do enjoy both. I was profoundly affected by the works of Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes) and Berkley Breathed (Bloom County) and nowadays by Penny Arcade. If I can only get half as good as those guys, then I'm doing something right.
