This is actually a semi philosophical and psychological aspect of telling a story. *puts on anthropology hat* Brighter colors, such as blue, are often seen as good because of the cultural concept of associating bright and colorful things with good things, such as a god or life. Darker colors, such as black, are often used as a way to convene death, evil, or other things because of black's long relation to death and the lack of life. Red usually goes along with this at least in my research because it is the color of blood, so having both balck and red together often symbolizes death in combination with blood so violence, war, and bloodshed.
