I really don't have any favorites. I'm usually constrained by an event location, so I just check out the area surrounding for portraits. I love places you wouldn't think to shoot in. Little nooks and doorways.

Yep. I add the amount of travel cost on top of my usual local price. I add the amount for airfare, lodging, and usually a rental car.

Hmmm... I don't really understand the question completely, the part about attracting clients that all have a similar look to them. As for finding your own style, I think you just have to shoot what like. If you like shooting crazy abstract dark surrealist photos, shoot that. If you like shooting pinkish vintage photos of kids, shoot that. Your own style will follow suit, and so will the clients that are attracted to that style. I'm not sure if that answers your question or not.

It allows me more flexibility later in post. I can push the image file a little further than I can with a JPG.

They are awesome! I've been super lucky so far. Most my clients come from word of mouth or my featured vendor listing on Offbeat Bride. My vendor listing on that blog is the only advertising I've done so far. It's been really good for me.

I use a very simple modified S curve in the Alien Skin Exposure plug in for Photoshop. I've also made my own presets in ASE, or rather, modified versions of their presets. I usually play around with the curves & color saturation of an ASE preset until I get a tone that I like. Then I save it as my own preset.

Before I was a photographer I was in a band. I was making CD's/DVD's and little newsletter/zines that we gave out at our shows. I was also making DVD's of other local bands playing live and I wanted them to look like they were being produced by someone, so I came up with the name Americanvirus. I just thought it sounded cool. The name has stuck with me ever since.

I thought I was going to grow up to be a film director.
