(***NOTE!*** Before I answer the above question, I just wanted to let everyone know that this Formspring is no longer active! Thanks for asking me literally thousands of questions but it's time to move on to a better functioning platform. I think G-Dragon is a great performer. So, so so great. Not only is he proven solo material, but I think he can work crowds over here in the West too, through sheer stage charisma, which is amazing.

I did read his XXL interview. GD has a couple of big problems. He says that he doesn't want to be lumped into the same genre as K-pop. Part of that I understand, because Westerners lump Asians together regardless. But the other part that I'm not so cool with is that he says that with disdain for his own pop culture, the one that he was borne from. Who the fuck does GD think he's kidding? He's K-pop, through and through. Just because he's now a solo popular idol rapper doesn't mean he's not THE most K-pop of K-pops. Other than the hypocrisy, his attitude comes off like pop is bad and a genre that is shameful. Wrong, GD, wrong.

I think GD is creative, but I don't think he's THAT creative. I also don't think the right attitude from his fans is to use terms of relativity here, like he's more creative than what the norm in K-pop is. If he were truly as hip hop as he wants to be seen, he can afford at this point to hang with more of the actual hip hop artists that Korea has, but he doesn't. Basically, he talks about thug life but doesn't want to actually experience life away from the YG White Tower.

He's an appropriator at best, and in the context of the cultures he's appropriating -- Black culture, hip hop culture -- he doesn't ring authentic in any shape, way, or form. Korean audiences love Black culture, but they don't like Black people practicing their own culture, so GD is a fix for that.

GD truly inspires a love/hate response from me because I sincerely love his performance style and think he has a ton of potential. But he is buying into his hype infinity times over, and at the end of the day, he is not as real or as talented as he wants to portray.

Yeah I've answered this before. I don't prefer one to the other, I enjoy both their styles and I love them dancing together.

It's complicated. I haven't given it a super huge amount of thought yet, but my answer tentatively is that non-Asian foreigners in K-pop is a no go. Yes to Asian foreigners.

Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Epik High, Jazzyfacts, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Eve, Miss Elliott. Drake maybe if you don't get annoyed of his voice. Kid Cudi ditto, but mostly only his first album.

Also, I haven't checked him out yet, but I've been reading a lot of glowing reviews of Kendrick Lamar's work, so check it out?

My first ever concept of OTP was funneled through Jo/Laurie from Little Women. (I cannot get over Jo's rejection of Laurie. More than a decade after I put the book down I still angst over it occasionally.)

      Sydney Bristow/Michael Vaughn (Alias)

      Veronica Mars/Logan Echolls (Veronica Mars)

Tracy Lord/Macaulay Conor (The Philadelphia Story)

Liz/Conner (Sweet Valley High Senior Year. YES.)

They haven't done it live yet so I can't say, but the ones they have done haven't been good. I think this choreo is challenging them, because I've never seen them as out of sync as they have been for the IGAB performances. They -- save for Hyoyeon and maybe Yuri -- have ZERO swag, so it's been excruciating to watch them do this choreography.

It 1) is a sageuk, 2) had a solid children's portion, 3) star power of its leads, 4) focused SO MUCH on the getting together of a couple.

I think it's pretty common knowledge she did, right? Nothing glaring but her face, like you said, does look different. Nose? Jaw? That and she did lose a lot of baby fat from her face so that probably adds to the ambiguity?

I'm used to it now, but it's bad. I really love the chorus and the part of the song that encompasses the "I got a boy" chorus, but the rest of it .... :(

Any place is fine, as long as I have a good playlist and good headphones on. (Though I do prefer spaces with lots of light :))
